CHEROKEE INDIANS

From 1690 to 1740 there were diseases that affected the Europeans. A lot of the culture left the Indians when the diseases hit. The Cherokee were forced into the Europeans culture. Over the years the Cherokee Indians could go into Florida safely. There are two paths, the paths turned into US Highway 90 and I-75. Florida was in two sections at the time. This is East Florida and West Florida. Florida recognized American tribes at the state level. Even though the state only recognized the creek people, it made a change and the Cherokee Indians came out of hiding. Florida is one of eleven states that hold over 65% of Native Americans.
