Cherokee Indians
In 1838 Andrew Jackson forced the Cherokee Indians to leave their territory. The Cherokee Indians didn't want to leave their territory. Some of the Cherokee Indians didn't like what the government said that they had leave their lands. The ones that hid in the wilderness of the Blue Ridge Mountains were safe. The Cherokee Indians lived in the mountains region. When they left their territory this is called the trails of tears.

The Cherokee Indians believed that there was a thing that created us, the moons and stars. The sun in their religion was the principal object of worship. The Cherokee Indians always prayed to the sun to have good crops and good health. Cherokee Indians had festivals called the New Moon festival to give honor to the moon. Cherokee believed that the morning star was a priest that killed tons of people by witchcraft. In the after life if you were in a good manner you will go somewhere that is pleasant and happy. The ones who were poorly in there life they would go to some place bad and be tortured.

The children likes to play, they go to school and do chores. They had a lot of chores to do and less time to play.
The Cherokee Homes
They Cherokee Indians live in villages and close to a river. One town could have 30-60 homes. Their town has a wide open space for meetings. The houses were made of river cane, and plaster, and thatched roofs. The houses was about as big and as strong, and as warm as a log cabin. The Cherokee Indians had two homes. There is a summer one a winter one. The winter one is small and dome like to help keep the heat in. Many of the Cherokee Indians villages had walls around them for protection.
The houses are built with nature resource. The men hunted, gets sticks, leaves and animal hides to make the houses. The women harvest the crops, in charge of framing, property and family. The men are chiefs and women land owners.
Cherokee Clothing
The man wore breech cloths.The women were wrapped around with a skirt that is poncho-style and that is made from woven fiber or deerskin. They wore moccasins on their feet.
Cherokee Food
The Cherokee were farming people. The women harvested crops of corn, beans, squash, and sunflowers. The women also gather berry's, nuts and and fruit. The men hunt deer, wild turkeys and go fishing.
Cherokee weapons
Hunters use bow and arrows to shoot and kill their food. The fishermen use spears and fishing poles. Their warriors also use the bow and arrow to shoot, and use a melee weapon like a spear or a tomahawk.
Cherokee accomplishments
The best known person in Cherokee history is Sequoya. He was a brilliant man. Sequoya invented the writing systems for Cherokee and it is still used today.
